Restaurant Review for Azie Asian Restaurant
Location: 217 West State Street, Media PA
Owner: Not sure, but the 3 executive chefs are impressively introduced at their website17 West State Street
Telephone: 610-566-4750
Website: www.Azie-Restaurant.com
Ambiance: Edgy, interesting, and cool in both temperature and in the “in place to be” sense
Service: Very nice, very friendly and informal, with two waiters caring for us in a not-full and post-lunch hour period. They both helped us with through a lot of indecision, battling with our hunger, attractiveness of the sushi and salads, and the pricing of a lunch.
Experience: What we all ended up ordering was the same beet salad and a mushroom dumpling soup combo, and a shared signature sushi roll called The Orange Street: shrimp tempura, kani, asparagus, salmon, jalapeno, crunch, and a spicy vinaigrette with eel sauce. And yet, it wasn’t nearly enough to satisfy my appetite. I found the beet salad dressing a bit too bland, almost non-existent, and I personally think a beet salad needs lots of yin to go with the yang of the beets—acid, the strong bleu cheese (plenty of that) and well-flavored dressing. Oh, and some crunch, like toasted walnuts or similar. I didn’t finish mine, because I wanted something with more protein—and the shared sushi wasn’t going to do it. The mushroom dumpling soup was a delicious flavor, but the dumplings were not cooked all the way. I will keep in mind that it was 2 p.m., and they closed at 3 pm!
Menu: Quite varied, but leaning toward Asian. However, their happy hour (which they do 5-7, 7 days a week, with good pricing and selections, was even more varied and had something for everyone.
Total Bill: $80 or close to it for three people. As a Cheap Eater, I would prefer to spend less for lunch and have more food in my middle part.
Additional Comments: I would like to do a happy hour and report back.
